Shafer Park Facilities & Fields

The Park & Restrooms officially CLOSED for the 2025 season on NOVEMBER 3, 2025
and will OPEN for the 2026 season on APRIL 4, 2026

The Community Center is available to rent.
The Community Center can be rented throughout the year, with the exception of holidays and Town event days.
The Community Center holds 100 people, and has 9 tables, 62 metal folding chairs and 14 stationary chairs..

PLEASE NOTE:
Alcohol, including beer and wine, is prohibited in Shafer Park and the Community Center
**Driving vehicles on Park grass is prohibited**
Bounce-houses, inflatable slides, pony rides and other party inflatables are prohibited on Park grounds
(with the exception of Town sponsored events, as directed by Town staff)

Shafer Park OPENS to the public every day at dawn and CLOSES at dusk.

Shafer Park Dog Restriction Lifted
The Town allows leashed dogs in Shafer Park. Pet waste stations have been installed to make picking up after your dog more convenient.

Hawkins Grove Pond REGULATIONS:

This is a Maryland Nontidal Sport Fishing Pond.

Special provisions enforced by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources
limits fishing in this area to persons that are:

Handicapped and/or Blind

Children ages 16 and Under

Adults age 65 and Older

2026 Rental Fees - All Day Rental
Sun up until Sun down
Boonsboro Residents fees:

$45 for the Gazebo and Pavilion 4, 5 & 6

$50 for Pavilion 1, 2 & 3

Non-Resident fees:

$55 for the Gazebo and Pavilion 4, 5 & 6

$60 for Pavilion 1, 2 & 3

2026 Community Center Rental Fee:

$50 Key Deposit
Community Center rentals are for the entire day. You can use the Community Center from sun-up until 9:00pm. You are not permitted to enter the building until your rental day (no early move ins for decorating). The $50 deposit will be returned to you when you return the key and if the Community Center is cleaned to the same condition as it was prior to your use.

Park Rules & Regulations

WARNING IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT ALL POSTED RULES MUST BE OBEYED. ANY PERSON WHO VIOLATES ANY OF THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS SHALL BE SUBJECT TO PROSECUTION.

No one shall write upon, cut, break, remove, mutilate, deface or in any way misuse or damage any building, structure, fence, sign, equipment, tree, shrubbery or flowers.
Use of profanity, fighting or obscene conversation is strictly prohibited. Please be respectful.

No alcoholic beverages, wine or beer are permitted in the Park.

Leashed dogs are permitted in the Park. Pet owners are responsible for proper disposal of pet waste. Please use pet waste stations.

No motor vehicles, golf carts or motorcycles are allowed on the grass or on the walkways. Do not park on the grass or drive to the Pavilions or Gazebo. Parking is allowed in designated areas ONLY.

Bounce-houses and other party inflatables are prohibited on Park grounds, as are pony rides except during Town sponsored events in the Park. (Wagon Train and the Rescue Company Carnival)

Ball playing is allowed on the regulation softball diamond and at the basketball courts.

Horseshoe pitching is permitted in designated areas only.

The use of metal detectors is prohibited on Park property.

Food grilling and cooking fires are permitted in designated areas only.

It will be the responsibility of all parties using the Pavilions and facilities to clean up these areas at the conclusion of the activities. Please place trash and recycling in the proper receptacles.

All Park facilities close at dusk. No one is permitted in the Park after dark, except during Town sponsored events.

Please observe the traffic and parking signs in and around the Park.

Picnic tables are not to be moved from the Pavilions under any circumstances.

Please stay out of the Park streams.
