*National Pike Festival Wagon Train

When:

"Travel the Road that Made the Nation" Wagon trains have been rolling since 1989 as a part of the Maryland segment of the Washington County National Pike Festival. With its strategic geographical location between the Allegheny Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains, Washington County played a key role in opening the West to our nation.

Authentic wagon trains pulled by horses and mules re-enact the travel during the 1797 development of the National Pike beginning in Clear Spring on Friday and ending with old fashioned activities in Shafer Park.

Fun news from the Wagon Train event coordinators!!
State Highway granted permission to drive the Wagon Train down Main Street, loop around the traffic circle, come back down Main Street & enter Shafer Park through the main Park entrance this year.

Wagon Train arrival times will as follows:
- They will be on Main Street at 12 noon, and it will take them about 30-45 minutes to loop the circle & come back to the Park entrance.
- They will be in the Park by 12:30 – 12:45pm

This is a huge & significant change that they have been working on for years & are VERY excited about it!!

Pony rides will be provided for children in the Park, as well as blacksmith and spinning demonstrations.
Food items will be available to purchase from local non-profit groups
