Boonsborough Museum of History

Respected as one the finest private museums in the region, and often referred to as a miniature Smithsonian, the Boonsborough Museum of History houses an extensive Civil War collection that includes items from the Antietam and Gettysburg Campaigns, as well as historical items pertaining to Boonsboro's history and so much more.

Located at
113 North Main Street, the Boonsborough Museum of History was established by Douglas Garns Bast (1937-2021). Doug was the third generation family member to own and operate Bast of Boonsboro. Founded as a cabinet shop in 1837 and evolved into a furniture store, it operated 174 years until Doug retired. His real love, however, was the Boonsborough Museum of History which he founded out of a life-long love of history and operated for 46 years.
